Feel more prepared for feeding your baby.
A prenatal visit with an IBCLC gives you time to understand what to expect, talk through your feeding goals, and get answers before your baby arrives. Whether you’re planning to breastfeed, pump, combination feed, or are still figuring it out, we’ll make a plan that feels realistic for your family.

Practical preparation for your baby’s first feeds
This is a one-on-one appointment built around your questions, your health history, and the way you hope to feed your baby.
Understand the early days
Learn about colostrum, when milk typically comes in, newborn feeding cues, cluster feeding, diaper output, and signs your baby is getting enough.
Learn feeding skills
Review positioning and latch, ways to support comfortable feeds, and what to do if feeding isn’t going as expected.
Make a pumping plan
Discuss whether and when to pump, flange sizing, bottle introduction, and planning ahead for time away from baby or returning to work.
Prepare for your individual needs
We’ll review relevant aspects of your health and any known health considerations for your baby, and discuss how they could affect milk production, feeding, or the support you may need.
Personalized, supportive, and judgment-free
We’ll start with what matters most to you. You can bring questions, talk through previous feeding experiences, and share any concerns about your health, pregnancy, or baby’s health. I’ll help you understand what may be relevant to feeding and what to keep an eye on once baby arrives.
You’ll leave with clear, practical guidance for getting started—not a rigid set of rules. Your plan can change as you and your baby get to know each other.
Prenatal consultations are typically held in your home, so you can talk through your plans in the space where you’ll be feeding your baby. Your partner or another support person is welcome to join.

When should I book?
I recommend scheduling your prenatal lactation consultation between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. This gives us time to talk through your questions, prepare for your baby’s arrival, and make a plan before the last few weeks get busy.
You don’t need to have your feeding goals figured out before the appointment. We’ll talk through your options and focus on what matters to you.
Common questions
Do I need to be planning to exclusively breastfeed?
No. We can talk about breastfeeding, pumping, combination feeding, or your questions about feeding options. The goal is to help you make informed choices that work for your family.
Can my partner or support person join?
Absolutely. Anyone who will be supporting you with feeding and newborn care is welcome to participate.
Do you accept insurance?
Many visits may be covered through Breezy Babies, depending on your plan. Visit the Insurance & Fees page for current verification steps and self-pay options.
Can I get help after my baby is born, too?
Absolutely. You can schedule an in-home follow-up or virtual visit after delivery. The prenatal visit helps you prepare, and postpartum support is available when you and your baby need it.
You don’t have to figure it all out before baby arrives.
